How to Grow My Beard – week 4
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
Who can believe that’s another week done in our incredible journey on how to grow my beard. We are going strong now. Give yourself a pat on the back for achieving this mile stone, I’m sure it there has been a couple of times you have felt like giving in to the razor but you resisted and put it back in the cupboard.
Wow that’s been a whole month since we started out on this journey together, where has that time gone? Just like my beard it goes/grows quickly 😉 .
On average your beard grows a 1/4 inch every month so you should definitely be seeing some good growth now.
At this point you should be noticing a real big difference on how your beard looks. I will be coming in full force now. How it looks all depends on your genetics, colour and thickness. As I keep saying don’t compare yourself too much to everyone else. We are all different.
I suggest instead of comparing yourself to other guys with beards, use them as inspiration instead. You want to be unique and have your own style and not to look like every other dude with a beard.
You probably have a rough idea on which type of beard you are aiming for. Some of you might be going for a long beard like myself or you might be going for a short well-kept look.
Don’t be surprised if you end up going for a completely different style of beard than what you thought you wanted, there are so many different styles out to go for, go for one that suits you. Don’t be afraid to mix them up as well, there are a few hybrid styles as they call them now.
Changes over the past week
Thankfully this week the dreaded beard itch that I had been suffering from over the past few weeks has died down and is almost gone.
As I mentioned in last weeks update I was exfoliating almost every day and applying plenty of beard oil and moisturiser as my beard was itching like mad. This week it has died down a lot and I have gone back to exfoliating twice this week.as I don’t want to be stripping back too much of my natural oils from my skin.
I might sound like I am contradicting myself when I say that I don’t want to exfoliate too much so not to strip all the natural oils but then last week I was exfoliating every day. The main reason I did it everyday last week was to remove all the dead skin and sweat that built up in my beard, it is this build up that can contribute to your beard itching.
I made sure to apply plenty beard oil to help replace the oils lost through exfoliating. I also made sure to reduce the frequency of me exfoliating as soon as noticed the itch dying down. That’s why I am back to twice a week now.
My Product Shelf
Hopefully like myself your beard care product shelf will be increasing. I now have beard balm, beard oil, beard butter, boars hair brush and my trusty moisturiser.
The beard butter is new for me and have yet to try it out. I can’t wait to try it out this week, it smells amazing and I always look forward to trying out a new product. I will be writing a review on the beard butter this week so you can see how I got on with it
I will be looking into getting a moustache wax this week and new beard wash as my current one is just about run out. I will probably not need the moustache wax for the next couple of weeks but I just like to be prepared, and I just like buying and trying new products.
If you are looking for some inspiration on what products to buy check out my product reviews or my product shop page.
What to expect this week coming? Pretty much the same as this week, nothing to crazy is going to happen over the coming week. We will just continue to look after our beards like we have been since day 1. The only difference now is that you can really begin to see the difference in your beard now.
Personally I will have to start maintaining my neckline a bit more as it is a lot more noticeable if I leave it for more than a couple days. I feel it really begins to look a mess. This is just me though I am very particular in keeping my neckline and cheeks nice and neat.
As I said at the beginning of this post, I can’t believe it has been 4 weeks already, the time has flown by. Great effort so far. You will be proud of your progress so far, I know I am. You are definitely on your way to growing an awesome beard. Keep up the great work.
Hopefully by now your face will be adjusting to you new beard and if you have not suffered from any kind of itching that’s awesome and if you are or have trust me it will pass.
Don’t be surprised if you do get some slight itching over the next couple of weeks as your beard comes in longer. This could be caused by your hair follicles being stretched by your hair growing out thicker. It has never been left to get this long so it just takes a little time for your skin to adjust that’s all.
Feel free to comment or ask any questions I will try my hardest to help you out. Also, it would be great to see you progress as well.
