Well that’s the first week of your beard journey done. Congratulations to you. Hopefully you have seen some growth this week, I know I have.
First week done
That’s the first week done in how to grow my beard series. I am sure you will have noticed a little growth this week. You might have a full face of stubble like myself or it might be just coming in. Everyone grows there beard at different rates, concentrate on your own journey and don’t compare yourself to anyone else, we are all different.
Caring for your new stubble
Hopefully you have now invested in a decent moisturiser this week to help the transition from nice smooth skin to your now ruff and ready look. If you haven’t got your self some yet, go out and buy some now, do a quick google search and get some sent to your door, the joys of the internet. I recommend this moisturiser.
Start using your moisturiser twice a day first thing in the morning and just before you go to bed. You can apply some at lunchtime if you want? I find that if I am growing my beard during the winter months I will apply my moisturiser during the day as well as I work outside all day and find my skin dries out more. It all depends on your type of skin.
While you are sorting yourself out a moisturiser see about picking up an exfoliator as I mentioned in last weeks post. You will definitely need this to help keep that nasty itch at bay, you probably won’t start noticing the beard itch for another couple of weeks though.
I have exfoliated twice this week to help remove the build up of dead skin cells and dirt. I will continue this routine though out growing my beard and even when my beard is at desired length I am after. I would not recommend not exfoliating more than twice a week as you will start to strip away to many of your natural oils needed to keep your beard and skin healthy.
The key to helping manage the itch is to start early. Prevention is better than cure.
What to expect in the up coming week
Much of the same as this week. You will probably notice a difference during this week as your stubble will be coming stronger now. Make sure to keep up with moisturising your stubble and remember to exfoliate as well. Start building your beard care routine now.
Start looking to buying yourself some beard care products like beard oil and beard balm as you will be starting to use them over the next few weeks. I recommend having a look at Mo Bro’s as the have some good kits that include everything you will need to keep your beard looking and feeling awesome
The first couple of weeks are quite minimalistic when it comes to caring for your beard, but at the same time are very crucial, you want to get off on the right foot.
Sit back and enjoy the journey.
