How to grow a thick beard – is it possible for me?
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
I am sure that we have all got an Instagram account and have seen many pictures of men with really full thick beards and thought man I want to grow a beard like that. Next thing you are thinking is how to grow a thick beard? Is there any secrets to it, what does this guy do to get his beard like that?
If this is your first time growing a beard I recommend you pop over to my other post here on Black & Tan and have a little read over how to grow a beard and how to stop a beard itching. You will pick up some great tips there.
Now if you are thinking have been growing your beard for a while or have always had a short well-kept beard and have thought I want to grow it out and get a nice thick beard like you have seen plastered all over the internet and wondering how to do it, I am going to give you a little insight on how this will or will not happen.
Unfortunately genetics can play a big role in how your beard will grow and how thick it comes in. It is like with everything in life, we are all different. Some men are tall, some are short, some have thick hair, some have none. It is exactly the same when it comes to growing a beard.
Now don’t let this put you off, if you are thinking of growing a beard or even trying to grow out your beard to the style you are aiming for. You always have to give it a try and find out what you have got to work with.
Just remember that there are many beard styles out there and just because you can’t grow the style of beard you really want, don’t let this put you off, you can always go for a style that really works for you and your growth pattern.
Another thing I have to mention is patches, don’t be surprised if you have one or two little patches in your beard that don’t fill in, the majority of men get theses. There are some ways to over come these but also they may never fill in, but don’t worry about this as I said you are not alone.
Age is another massive contributor when it comes to growing a beard, especially a thick beard. You will find with the majority of us men, that the younger you are the harder it might be to grow the beard you want.
One thing I have learnt over time is that you don’t really fulfill your full beard growing capability until you are probably in your thirties. Now don’t let this put you off growing your beard. Just work with what you have got and make it work for you.
I first grew my beard when I was thirty and now I am thirty-five and I have noticed that it grows slightly thicker now compared to back then and my patches seem to fill in slightly more now.
Remember growing a beard is a journey and it may take some time to get to the place you really want to be, don’t give up to quickly, you will get there, just remember to be proud of what you can grow and go for a style that works for you.
Now when it comes to growth supplements I can’t really comment that much on them. I do know they are out there and I have read a lot of good and bad reviews. I personally have never used any. Just let my face grow what it can. Also, I am very lucky to have a reasonably thick beard.
I would personally try to live a healthier lifestyle. Get plenty of exercise and get your testosterone levels up. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Check out this excellent post from Medical News Today on what are the best foods for healthy hair growth. Have a read and see if there is anything you might want try to add in to your diet.
I’m not saying this will work but there is no harm in trying, especially when it comes to making your diet healthier.
Keep on shaving until it grows in thicker!!
I have included this statement in this post to put an end to this myth. It is a load of Cr#@p. The more you shave will not help your bead grow thicker. The only thing shaving does to your beard is stopping it from growing in the first place as you are shaving it off.
As I have mentioned earlier in this post the way your beard will grow and how thick it will grow all comes down to your genetics and age. So if you are 16 or 17 and have decided that you want to grow an amazingly thick beard like someone who is in their thirties and think that if you keep shaving every day it will help this happen. Don’t bother as it won’t help.
How to grow a thick beard?
Hopefully I have given you a little help when it comes to getting that thick beard of your dreams. It might take a long time (years) to get there but don’t give up. There is a high possibility you could always have a patchy beard through your genetics.
If you take one keynote from this post today and that is to embrace what you can grow and to be comfortable with it.
